Famotidine is a histamine 2 blocker and is best used for reducing heartburn symptoms caused by acid indigestion. Famotidine works to decrease the production of stomach acid by reducing the amount and concentration of stomach acid.

Depending on how severe your symptoms are, you can take famotidine every day once or twice per day for two weeks. It is important to note to not take more than two tablets within 24 hours. You can take famotidine with or without food. To prevent heartburn, you can take famotidine 15 to 60 minutes before eating food or drinks that cause acid indigestion.
